Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, welcome back Cortney.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Hi Dav.
Speaker 1 (00:03):
So we’re going to be chatting about what’s been happening since we last caught up and what’s been
happening with you and Beckii. So did you wanna tell us a little bit about what’s been different or what’s
changed for you? Tell us.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Yes. So we are pumping the brakes for the time being, getting more staff in and trained like everyone
right now, it’s, you know, staffing is our biggest challenge. But certain systems processes that, you know,
Beckii has taught me and we’ve put in place have been monumentally helpful. So, you know, we stay
hiring now and I think that’s crucial. But we are month after month just surpassing the month before
and doing better and better as far as, you know, our recurring our number of recurring clients and
monthly revenue and monitoring, you know, the compliments and all of it. We, we keep track of all of it
now. So we’re able to see, you know, the business scaling, which is cool.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
And are you still continuing your consulting cause you had your initial period. So you, do you still go back
to Beckii or has that continued? Like how is that working for you?
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, so we had our initial crash course is what I’m calling it because it was everything A to Z. Just
completely revamping all the things that I thought that I knew that I didn’t actually have a firm grasp on.
And after our initial crash course I still, she’s still my go to for, you know, any questions that I have. If I
need someone to vent to someone’s advice, to iron out certain things you know, she’s riding the wave
too. So as she says, instead of reinventing the wheel, I just you know, I know that I can count on her for
the support and the guidance which is a good feeling.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Hmm. Have you seen that the, the implementations that you’ve put in that they have needed to change
at all with the implementations like they’ve needed to improve again, or if they worked straight from
the start? improvement. And then, you know, we kind of tweak things as we go as needed if we wanna change
something up. But the systems work they work as is, and night and day difference from anything that we
were doing pre Beckii <laugh>
Speaker 1 (03:20):
So her systems has kind of created like a little ecosystem to build on more of an ecosystem within your
system?
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Wow. Definitely. Wow. That’s awesome. So can you give us some sort of info or stats into how it’s
improved since last? So, is there been an improvement on clients? Cause you’ve given us some stats
before, but has there been a doubling of more clients or how’s, how’s it been?
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Yes. So we started, when we initially started working together, we had started monitoring certain things.
So now I have like this bird’s eye view of all of the things. So we know when we started say it was
October where we were at as far as our revenue for you know, the week and for the month. And our
number of we started tracking like, this is where we’re at with our recurring number of clients. And this
is where we’re at with, you know, how many compliments each week, how many complaints each week.
So everything, you break everything down and you dissect everything and see what those numbers
actually mean and get your percentages. You know, and when you’re dealing with X number of jobs and
you feel like, oh, we’ve gotten a complaint and it it’s, doesn’t make you feel good when you look at the
percentage though, versus, you know, customer service is huge and you wanna please everybody, but
that’s not realistic.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
So you know, when you break those numbers down and you’re able to see the percentage and see what
percentage actually, you know, complained it’s minuscule. Since October we’ve more than doubled our
revenue. I believe we’re up 15 to 20 new recurring clients. So, and that’s ranging from, you know,
weekly to monthly, weekly, biweekly, monthly. So, you know, it’s, the numbers are there and they do
not lie. That’s why we’re, <laugh> very, very busy. Again recently had to close the schedule down and
just, we know where we’re at and what we can manage. And I don’t it feels an awful lot, like a cart
rolling down a hill and trying to stay in front of it, like, so go by me, pump the brakes, you know, you
don’t want to get sloppy and that’s where you slip up. If you take on more than you should, more than
you’re able to so we’re good with where we’re at client wise, we’ll get some people trained and open
the schedule back up and advertise.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
What little bit of availability we, we may have here and there, but more than double since October, and
like I said, at least 15 to 20 new recurring clients. So she had said it gets easier when they’re recurring
versus the one time, you know, it’s, it’s easier. You’re going to the same places and they have the utmost
love and respect for you and, you know, really, truly value your energy and your effort and the work that you do.
And now I can see why she said that because it, it gets so much easier when you lock in all of
those recurring and you’re nurturing the relationship. And I think that’s a huge, huge part of it. And from
day one, from the communication, the email correspondence you know, phone correspondence,
whatever it may be just nurturing what you have. She would always say the low hanging fruit, that’s how
she describes it.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
So, you know, she’s like you have this tree and all this low hanging fruit and it’s right there for you to
pick. So, you know, it makes more sense to do that than to go outta your way and advertise for new, you
know, new work, new work. So now that we are, we’ve converted, so many of those one time cleans
those new clients over life gets easier. It’s less stressful dealing with so many new people. And I mean
the business has grown by leaps and bounds. So we’re no shortage of work <laugh> at all.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
What does it feel like to be in this position where you’ve advanced your business this far?
Speaker 2 (07:33):
It feels like utter chaos <laugh> you know, but in a good way, I’m somebody that likes to stay busy. I
don’t sit well. You know, we have an awesome team, so it’s like the camaraderie and, you know, it’s just
a whole social thing and it’s definitely something to be proud of. I mean, I started as, you know, solo
cleaner, and I’ve been doing it officially since 2015, unofficially a little while longer before that, but you
know, climb the ladder and move from, you know, DBA through the county to getting incorporated and,
you know, a team of me and someone else, a team of two to, you know, I think we’re, well, we hired
three more this week, so I don’t even know how many people we have on our team at this point. I think
we’re at 12? 13? you know, but everybody’s coming from some sort of situation that they didn’t love
and had jobs that were not so great. And, you know, your company, culture being what it is is hugely,
hugely important. It’s a good feeling, you know, feeling like you kind of clawed your way up blood,
sweat, and tears, and you, your hard work is what gets you there, you know, and your dedication and
whatnot. So if you put in the work eventually it pays off and, you know, you get out of it, what you put
into it. So.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
That’s awesome. And if it, if it wasn’t for Beckii, how, how long do you think it would’ve been for you to
get to this spot?
Speaker 2 (08:59):
I wouldn’t have, I wouldn’t have, because I fun fact never went to college. I did not take a business
course ever in my life. I still to this day have not taken a business course. I have that wonderful, big,
huge SEO book that I showed you previously that still has a bookmark in like three quarters of the first
chapter. And, you know, I’m, I’ve very much just been winging it and just kind of a whole lot of trial and
error mostly error and you know, she kind of talking with her when I would have the meetings, you
know, brought me a lot of reassurance and she would she’s kind of like that family member that just like
cuts you off and you’re saying something she doesn’t wanna hear. And she’s like, no, no, let me stop you
right there.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
That’s not it, or that’s not, you know, you need to, I was like a train derailing and she’s like, oh no, let me
get you back on the tracks. And, you know, she knew that I was overwhelmed. She knew that I was
passionate though. And it’s work, you know, it’s a lot of effort on, on your end as a business owner when
you’re working with a mentor. But that’s why I refer to that as a crash course, but I was willing to, I had
dealt with for years that fumbling through things and working with her, I was like, oh, she knows, you
know, this is not her first business. It’s not her second business. You know, but she’s, she’s been around
the block. She knows what she’s doing. She’s you know, got that tech savvy side to her, the customer
service side.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
But she can also be cutthroat. She’s very, she’s realistic. You know, and she makes sure that you’re
having, you know, that support the entire time. And she offers that, that reassurance, like I said, to just
make sure that, you know, you can do it, but she’s not sugar coating things and telling you it’s gonna be
easy and promising to do the work for you as a business owner, have to be willing to, you know, kind of
take the reins and commit to doing, if you want the business to flourish and you are committed to
growing the business it’s, it’s going to require energy, effort, hard work, sleepless nights on your end.
But she has, she has it down and she’s forever trying to find new ways, you know, figure out things that
she can do to, you know make things more seamless, make things more efficient, make things more
automated, whatever the case may be.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
She is forever researching. I don’t think she really has any downtime, which I can really, we’re the same
person in a lot of ways. Any little bit of like free time that she has, she’s researching, she’s reading, she’s
listening to things she’s, you know um just figuring out new techniques and tactics to, you know, the
economy being what it is and how can you kind of stay out ahead of it. And you know, I have the utmost
respect for her because I know that she doesn’t stop. I know that she’s go, go, go, she’s passionate. She
wants more outta life. She genuinely wants to help people. And they’re all good qualities, you know?
She’s awesome. I love her.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
That’s awesome.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
Is there anything else you wanna share?
Speaker 2 (12:27):
All the things, I mean, I’m gonna meet her one day in person. I told her, like she was not prepared to
have a best friend in me and now she does. She, I know she’s been you know, she’s been through pretty
much anything that you can imagine. So on that level of being able to relate to somebody she knew not
only like business wise, what I was going through or have gone through my personal life as well, you
know, I divulge a little bit too much to every I’m very, a very transparent person. And she, there wasn’t
anything I found out found that she couldn’t relate to, or she didn’t understand, you know, she just genuinely wants to help people.
She genuinely gets it and building yourself up from rock bottom and
having to rebuild, you know, when you’re knocked down or when you’re there’s nothing she hasn’t been
through.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
So she really has that plan of attack always. And she, I, again, she’s just ready, she’s ready to like, you
know, pounce. And she just, she’s always thinking of the next step, like what’s going to come next. And I
think that’s really important. Again, especially today, you know, there’s been so much, that’s happened
the last couple years and things have been very different. So I feel like her always brainstorming and
researching and trying to figure out what she can do to stay out ahead of things so that you are not
blindsided. I think that’s hugely important in a person that’s a really great characteristic to have, because
if you are not thinking ahead and you’re not, you know, one step ahead of it all, you are gonna get
ambushed and blindsided by things. And you know, and then you’re dealing with it after the fact as,
instead of coming up with a plan to deal with it and be ready for it.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
She’s, she’s awesome. You know, I mean, it was it’s worth the investment. I would have still been
spinning my wheels and I’m a stubborn human being. I, you know I thought, I thought I, I knew a good
amount despite not ever have having, you know, taken a business course, but she just came in and
proved me all wrong and we flipped things upside down and inside out. And I’m still seeing the results
and I will forever see the results because of it because it’s not, not just the doubled revenue or, you
know all those, like the birds eye view, we now have of these different things and percentages and
analytics and all of that is helpful. But the mindset is huge, you know, the mind, because you’re not,
you’re certain people that you’re dealing with your regulars again, may have the utmost respect for you
and they love you, and they’re leaving you Christmas gifts and bonuses, and, you know, they respect
your, your time and your efforts, not everybody does you know, and you have to, she’s helped me to
develop thicker skin, you know, and I feel like that’s important, no matter what industry you’re in, so
that you’re not taking things as personal, you’re letting things roll off your back.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
And just that business mindset, she’s always like hands on your hips. And I’m like, oh, and I think I, I
mentioned that I touched upon that on our last meeting and it stuck with me because there’s, you know,
there’s so many instances where I think of her and some of the, like her analogies and I have very weird
analogies as well, but some of hers have really stuck with me. You know, and I thank her for that
because it’s, it’s getting easier. You know, you have to take the good with the bad. Some people are
impossible to please, as I said but it gets easier dealing with people because I have a system for it.
They’re getting a template, you know what I mean? So it’s not personal. It takes the personal right out of
it. My hands are on my hips, it’s my business.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
And that mindset wasn’t there before. I might be a confident person and a strong personality, but to not
really have a firm grasp on what you’re doing, you can’t put your hands on your hips because you aren’t
set in your ways or set in your policies and you, you’re just kind of, you are winging it. You know, and
people might pick up on that and take advantage. So I just feel like that’s, it’s, it’s the mindset, it’s all of
it all across the board with the, the policies and the systems and the automations, but it’s that
confidence you know, and the experience that she brings to the table and backs you with and the support
that you received from her. She’s cut throat. She’s a good person, but she’s, you know, she
knows her stuff. She’s confident she’s been there, done that. And she takes no shit. And I love that. I
love that about her. So this probably will not be her last business either. I mean, I’m convinced she’s
gonna be like president or take over one day. She’s just got it. She’s got it in her. And she’s, you know,
got the kids and she is, you know, she’s just, she is a Saint. She’s heaven sent.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
I love your dog in the background. There
Speaker 2 (17:31):
There’s two, we have puppies playing by my feet.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
That’s amazing work culture.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Do you wanna see him? You ready?
Speaker 2 (17:42):
See them playing.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Gorgeous? Well, I think what you’re doing is awesome and thank you so much for your time, Cortney,
and we’re really looking forward to seeing what your next steps are and how your business goes from
here, and love seeing your strength to strength and everything that you’re doing with Beckii. So thank
you so much for sharing. And it’s just really inspirational, so thank you.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
You’re welcome. Hopefully, next time we catch up, we’ll have open the schedule back up and then we’ll
have tripled the revenue. So we’re, we’re on to bigger and better things, for sure.
New Speaker (18:16):
Thank you so much Cortney.
New Speaker (18:21):
Thank you.
